Kevin is the Senior Director for the Ontario Area of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency where he oversees the delivery of the Agency’s inspection programs in Ontario as well as the Area’s Enforcement and Investigation Services. He earned his Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees in biochemistry and microbiology from the University of Guelph and has spent the past 16 years working for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Beginning as a food inspector in 2002, Kevin has worked in various inspection and management roles within the Agency’s Operations Branch. Recently, Kevin has also been tasked with implementing the Agency’s new electronic export certification system.
I represent MLF on various industry committees/associations: Canadian Meat Council, Import-Export Canada, Agri Sub-Committee on Food Safety for the Pork Value Roundtable.
Aarthy Aguanno is the VP and Quality Assurance Manufacturer at 2 Leos Food Inc – a family-run Ontario-based manufacturer that primarily focuses on Italian-inspired products such as seafood antipastos, pestos, sun dried tomatoes, marinated and stuffed vegetables. With her guidance, 2 Leos Food Inc. has implemented high food safety standards without compromising their reputation for great taste, and using no fillers, artificial flavours and preservatives. With a passion for people and with intimate knowledge of the food manufacturing sector, she has brought a unique perspective into food production and innovation. She has years of experience in Quality Assurance in the family business, as well as a caring approach to managing co-workers, customer needs, and in meeting standards and expectations.
Neil originally joined BSI in January 1998 as Head of Certification Sales, building and managing a team dedicated to supporting customers with the training, implementation and certification of their business risk management systems. Neil then joined BRC Global Standards in November 2015 to head up their Global Key Account strategy, engaging key industry brand owners, manufacturers and retailers to understand their requirements from a risk solutions perspective, engaging BRC Global Standards approved delivery partners to ensure that they were actively supporting non-certificated suppliers to meet the expectations of their customers. Neil re-joined BSI in June 2018 as Food & Retail Supply Chain Director of the Americas, focusing on organizational resilience, culture excellence and holistic risk management solutions.
Amin Asadi, PhD has extensive experience in the food science and nutrition industry. He has a Master’s degree in Food Technology and Quality Assurance and PhD in Food Technology and Processing. Amin has worked as a Quality Assurance Team Lead and a Training Manager in Boston, MA and Toronto, Ontario. He is HACCP and SQF certified by the American Food Safety Services (AFSS) accredited by the international HACCP alliance and the international SQF institute.
Christian Blyth holds a degree in biology with a specialization in Microbiology and Ecology from the University of Waterloo. Christian has been a valued member of the 3M Canada Food Safety team since 2006. During this time, Christian has been the Food Safety Technical and Regulatory Specialist responsible for managing all technical information, training, regulatory and quality aspects to 3M Food Safety’s business.
Christian has most recently been representing 3M as the Pathogen Specialist for Canada. Christian also sits as an industry representative and the vice-chair of the Canadian branch of ISO/TC 34/SC 9. In his extensive work within the industry and with the government, Christian has become established as a local industry expert presenting at numerous conferences and contributed to many documents of written literature.
Dr. Douglas L. Marshall is Chief Scientific Officer with Eurofins Microbiology Laboratories. Formerly he was Associate Dean and Professor of Public Health, College of Natural and Health Sciences, University of Northern Colorado and a Contributing Editor of the scientific journal Food Microbiology. His career focus is to improve the microbiological quality and safety of foods, with numerous publications and consultations in the area. He has received the Mississippi Chemical Corporation Award of Excellence for Outstanding Work and the International Association for Food Protection Educator and Harold Barnum Industry Awards. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists.
Nigel Taylor, Director of Sales, ProLinc® and Services is an expert in technology, software, and services with 20 years of experience in North America and Europe. Prior to his role as Director of Sales, ProLinc® and Services at Ashton Potter, Nigel designed and executed go-to-market strategies for advanced technology solutions, performing as a senior-level leader in analyst and vendor organizations. Today, Nigel brings this wealth of experience to the Ashton Potter team in order to drive market awareness and adoption of our ProLinc® SaaS-based technology solution.
Riikka is the Food safety director in the City of Helsinki, Finland where she is responsible for the official food control. She is a specialist in Veterinary Medicine, Environmental Health and Food Safety (2008) and she earned her Executive Master of Business Administrative degree in 2015 at Aalto University, Finland.
Beginning as a DVM in 1996, Riikka has worked in various inspection and management roles within food safety at the national and local administration. She is a member in many national working groups related to food safety and food control
Sean Rollo began his career with Orkin Canada in 2002 as a Pest Control Technician. Over the years he has held many different positions within the company; Quality Assurance Manager, Service Manager, Branch Manager, and Senior Regional Manager. In his current position as Technical Director and Director of Business Development, he oversees Canada’s talented team of technical and quality assurance managers.
He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia (Canada) where he received a degree in Zoology with a specialization in Entomology. He is a Board Certified Entomologist with the Entomological Society of America, and President of the Canadian Pest Management Association. Passionate about food safety, he has been actively involved in IPM program formation, audit standards, educational programs, and of course; pest elimination.
Brita Ball, PhD, CTDP, ECPC, supports food businesses wanting to improve their culture of food safety, training and bottom line. She is a food safety and training specialist, principal consultant and coach at Brita Ball & Associates, bringing her extensive skills in leadership and organization development, facilitation and communications to firms. She is Past-Chair of the Food Safety Education professional development group for the International Association for Food Protection, and has been an advisor for food safety graduate students at Michigan State University and University of Guelph.
