Kathy Wilson is a seasoned leader in food safety, microbiology, and diagnostics, with 30+ years of experience in sales, operations, consulting and business development. As Managing Director at Hygiena, she drives strategic growth and commercial execution in Canada.
After earning a Microbiology degree from the University of Guelph, Kathy began her career at the Public Health Agency of Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory, focusing on laboratory accreditation, meat hygiene, and livestock transportation. She later joined DuPont Canada as a Senior Microbiologist in Food Risk Assessment, working with top North American food processors in microbial mapping, root cause analysis, and pathogen tracking.
In 2012, she was promoted to Canadian Business Manager for DuPont Qualicon, expanding its molecular diagnostics portfolio.
Following Hygiena’s acquisition of DuPont Qualicon in 2017, Kathy became Country Sales and Marketing Manager, overseeing microbial detection, molecular identification, ATP cleaning verification, environmental monitoring, and allergen detection. In 2024, she was promoted to Managing Director, continuing to drive innovation and customer excellence in food safety.
A Six Sigma certified professional, Kathy served on the Ontario Food Protection Association (OFPA) Board of Directors (2002–2009), holding roles as Vice President (2005) and President (2006–2007), and was later honored with the OFPA Award of Merit for outstanding service.
Kathy remains a driving force in microbiology and diagnostics, committed to food safety innovation and industry collaboration.
